Mario Party 9 is the ninth home console installment of the Mario Party series and the second and final installment for the Wii. The game was the first in the series to be developed by Nd Cube instead of Hudson Soft, as a result of the latter's acquisition by Konami. It is also the sixteenth in the series overall. In Mario Party 9, each themed stage has a clear destination point but with multiple paths along the way, so no two games will play the same. Every time they play, players can earn Party Points that are used to unlock special items and features. Each stage culminates in a Boss Battle. Mario Party 9 also makes big improvements to the overall aesthetic from the previous game in the series. Wii games have always had a reputation as looking rather rough around the edges. However, through using assets from Super Mario Galaxy 2 and generally just polishing up the title, the ninth outing really looks the part.
